Exile II: Inferno- Chapter 5:
Aundon
The two groups relocated themselves to the dwelling Silva and the
others were in. Each person sat down.
"Why are you here, Exile?" Yoh asked.
"Why are YOU here, Yoh?" Exile asked back.
"Silva called me here to talk about something, then that monster
attacked."
"That thing was a hellion spirit."
"No, really?" Horo Horo rhetorically replied. Pirika
delivered a swift smack to his head before listening to the conversation
again.
"These hellion spirits are not like those you’ve seen
before." Exile explained. "These have been altered somehow,
maybe to the imbalance in powers."
"Silva told us that the Great Spirit has been upset about
something." Ren said.
"Yes, that seems right. The Great Spirit is in pain. I believe
these hellion spirits wanted to take advantage of the Great Spirit’s
time of weakness. But that doesn’t explain how they could get between
the planes. We closed the door."
"Maybe a new door has been opened." Yoh said.
"Impossible. Nothing could break the barrier that much."
Exile said. Everyone looked at Exile thinking, until Horo Horo noticed a
small girl sitting next to them.
"Who’s the girl?" he said.
"Oh, that’s Kumi. She’s a spirit we picked up from Exile’s
home village." Kirol said. Kumi silently smiled and nodded.
"She’s a bit quiet, but she’s a good spirit."
"She was being attacked by a hellion spirit." Exile said.
"But Exile chased it away." Kirol said. Kumi shot a weak
glare.
"Not really, Kirol." Exile embarrassingly said. "But
right now we need to concentrate on our mission."
"Right!" Kirol said.
"We need to decide on our next move. If there is another
door-" Exile said.
"I thought you said there couldn’t be another door." Horo
Horo cut in.
"If there is one, then we need to find it." Exile
continued, unfazed by Horo Horo’s intrusion. A weak voice then moved
in.
"You must go...to Aundon." a weak Silva said.
"Aundon? That’s the name of your village, right Exile?"
Kirol asked.
"Yes. We just came from there." Exile said,
"Shaman have recently disappeared from there the most. There
must be a clue in Aundon. Go." Silva said. "I’ll be fine
alone."
"Silva, you need someone to watch you." Yoh said.
"I’ll be fine. Just go. There’s no time." Yoh nodded
and left with the others to Aundon.
In Aundon, Yoh and his group stared in horror, along with Exile and
his group. The village was in total ruin. Buildings were aflame and dead
bodies lied motionless on the ground.
"What...the hell happened?" Exile said, staring at the
devastation.
"Who could have done this?" Kirol said, crying. Exile then
rushed into the flaming village.
"Exile! Come back!" Yoh called. But Exile kept running. Damn,
Exile thought, please still be standing. Please still be ok. Exile
ran to his home, which was a blazing inferno. But the altar still stood,
as if the fire wasn’t even there.
"Thank God." Exile said. "It’s still standing."
Despite their worries, the others ran after Exile, finding him praying
to the altar with the fire surrounding him.
"Exile!" Kirol said in relief.
"We have to get outta here, Exile!" Yoh said.
"This fire is nothing." Exile quietly replied. "I must
know the answers. I will not be able to live unless I know!"
"Exile, stop it! You’ll die in this fire!" Kirol
screamed.
"I need to know." he said. Kirol then grabbed his arm and
ran out of the fire with him with the others following close behind.
"Kirol! Why did you do that?!" Exile yelled. He quickly
realized that she was crying.
"That was just too much, Exile..." she said, trailing off.
"You were gonna die!"
"I was not..."
"Yes, you were!" Exile couldn’t tell if Kirol was angry
or sad. "You were gonna die and you know it!"
"You were going to die, Exile." an anonymous voice chimed
in. Everyone turned to its source. "That fire was too much for
anyone to take." Kumi said.
"Kumi?" Exile asked.
"Just because I’m dead doesn’t mean I can’t be quiet for a
while, now does it?" Kumi said. "But besides that, Exile, you
worried Kirol more than ever, and for what, just some answers?"
Exile felt extreme remorse, plus he was getting lectured by a kid. He
turned to look at Kirol, who was still crying.
"I’m sorry, Kirol." he said.
"I know I can’t stop you, but you need to think harder about
what you care the most about, Exile..." she said. Exile tilted her
head up.
"I’m sorry. I made a mistake." he said, staring into her
tear-filled eyes. "You’re right. I’m acting too quickly."
"I just want you to consider what’s more important to
you..." she said. Kirol then felt arms wrap around her body. Exile
gently hugged her.
"You’re important to me, Kirol. I want you to remember
that." Kirol slowly began to stop crying. "I was overly
focused. It won’t happen again." Kirol looked up at him and
smiled.
"Ah, young love." Ryu said.
"Let me take a picture." Horo Horo said.
"Shut up." Exile sternly said.
"Now why can’t we be like that Anna?" Yoh said, wrapping
an arm around her waist. Anna barely blushed, then shot a left hook to
his jaw.
"Shut up, Yoh!" she yelled. Everybody sweatdropped, while
Anna continued to beat the living crap out of Yoh.
"Exile, why were you praying anyway?" Lyserg asked.
"I wanted to speak with my father." Exile replied. "I
thought he might know the answer to solving this crisis."
"Your father is dead?" Pirika asked.
"Killed by hellion spirits." Exile said, staring at the
slowly weakening fire.
"That’s horrible..." Tamao quietly said.
"It’s okay; it couldn’t have been avoided. The door was open
back then." Exile said, as the final flame disappeared. "But
enough about the past. I may be able to communicate with my father
better with the fire dead." Exile walked into the ruined village.
The ground was covered with ash and debris, while charred corpses lied
motionless on the ground. Everyone stared in shock at the bodies, but
Exile just looked forward. Buildings were giant charred monuments. Exile
and the others then arrived back at the altar.
